Guitarist, composer and bandleader James Gilmore plays music that crosses boundaries and genres, from jazz to blues to country and beyond. Inspired by the various traditions of Black American Music, his group featuring Butler Knowles on bass (Kenneth Whalum/ Young Bull/ Sean Mason) and Kassem Williams on drums (The Drifters / Peter Bernstein) plays his own compositions and their own versions of standards from the great American songbook. Their debut album ‘Decorating Time’ was released in September 2021 by Ears and Eyes Records. As well as leading his own group James has performed with country singer Rissi Palmer, host of Apple Music’s celebrated ‘Color Me Country’, with jazz drummer Geoff Clapp, and with many other luminaries of creative music.
