North Carolina and the Hydrologic Cycle

Saturday, April 5, 2014 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Speaker Dr. William Anderson from Appalachian State presents Influences on Water Quantity and Quality in the Tar Heel State.

North Carolina receives abundant rainfall every year, yet we are often lacking water. North Carolina also is well-known for its pristine landscape from mountains to sea, yet much of our water is polluted. In this talk, Dr. William Anderson will address a variety of hydrologic issues in North Carolina drawing from my own research and peer-reviewed studies by other scientists. In my examples, I will discuss such diverse topics as the influence of El Nino on the hydrology of North Carolina, the effect of over wash from hurricanes on water quality in coastal aquifers, the effect of urbanization on stream temperatures, and a variety of other topics pertinent to the state.
