REDEFINING BUILDERS: THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES OF CLEVELAND COUNTY

Redefining Builders was designed as an addition to the exhibit “African American Builders and Architects” which was created by Preservation North Carolina.  This addition acts as a standalone exhibit that explores the definition of a “builder,” just in the physical sense, but also in terms of building communities.  This exhibit celebrates the foundation of different African American communities in Cleveland County and the challenges and successes which have affected these communities in the years since.
