As part of the Jagged Path exhibit programming series, the Earl Scruggs Center presents a special educational program led by Smithsonian Folkways recording artist Jake Blount.

A skilled educator, Blount frequently gives lectures and presentations pertaining to both his original research and the history of Black string band music. For this program, he’ll dive into the influences of African culture on America, from the rhythms we still recognize today to the creation and popularization of the banjo.
