Students will have an overview of musical styles and techniques for the guitar including blues, rock, country, and bluegrass. In addition to learning scales and patterns that will unlock a world of inspiration, we will also cover barre chords and other aspects of intermediate guitar playing. Through group instruction and individual mentoring, students will have an opportunity to work at a pace that focuses on progress and musicality. On the final day, parents are invited to a mini-performance to experience the culmination of a week of hard work. Students are encouraged to bring an instrument. Contact the Earl Scruggs Center for information on loaned instruments & scholarships/fee assistance or click here.
Prerequisite: Students should know basic open chords as well as a solid foundation of note and/or tablature literacy.
