Pleasant City in the Past: A Photographic Study of Mid-Century Architecture in Cleveland County

Thursday, November 10, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$10

Thursday, November 10

6pm – 8pm

Pleasant City in the Past: A Photographic Study of Mid-Century Architecture in Cleveland County showcases film photographs of buildings in and around Cleveland County, shot by local photographer, Jesse Peeler.  Chosen from a 2019 historical survey of properties around the county, the photographed structures have a particular significance to our community’s architectural history. As a special treat, the display includes tintypes taken by Mr. Peeler which showcase a few turn of the century buildings. This exhibit is collaboratively produced by the Historic Shelby Foundation and Jesse Peeler with exhibition space provided by the Earl Scruggs Center.

Please join the Earl Scruggs Center, Historic Shelby Foundation and photographer Jesse Peeler on Thursday, November 10, from 6pm-8pm, for the opening of this interesting, important, and engaging exhibit. At 7 pm, Jesse Peeler will perform a tintype demonstration, walking the group through the process of this lengthy and artistic photography technique that was common in the late 1800s.

Limited seating is available and tickets are $10. Click here to register!
