Square Dance

Barn Dance – without the barn! Join us for recreational family fun square dancing! No experience or partner necessary – although experienced and partnered dancers are very welcome. Dances will include the Virginia reel, aeiou circle mixer, cotton eye joe, and more! Live band, instruction, and laughter included for all ages.
Laura Wheeler teaches line dance classes at the Dover Foundation YMCA and the Ruby Hunt YMCA. She is addicted to attending the Swannanoa Gathering at Warren Wilson College every summer where she picked up her square dancing and cloggin skills. Getting people dancing, especially those who have not danced before, makes her so happy. She is available for group or private lessons.
The Log Cabin String Band is an old time music group whose members hail from the Kings Mountain, North Carolina area. The band plays old time fiddle tunes with an emphasis on the traditional string band music of North Carolina and Southwest Virginia. The band members are: Brad Herndon (fiddle), Victoria Johansson (banjo), Lynn Eskridge (fiddle), Charles Watts (guitar), Tommy Forney (mandolin) and John Goldsbury (bass).
